Mr. Dim Sum Superstar

Our good friend and superb photographer Bertrand Stark had the opportunity to meet our favorite pug, Mr. Dim Sum. Sporting his flashy Balenciaga collar and his always-adorable attitude, the photo shoot was a huge success. Ms. MARY CHING’s loveable pooch will certainly be walking the run way in no time.

The Birthday Girl!

Who says you can’t party on a Monday? The CHINGDOM was rocking last night as the MARY CHING crew and friends celebrated a joyous occasion—Ms. Mary Ching’s birthday! The birthday booze was flowing and a great time was had by all. The only downside to such a fun night? Coming into work the next morning.

Ruby Red Hair

It is amazing what a simple Google search can produce. While exploring “Chinese leopard ruby red," the MARY CHING crew stumbled upon two pictures of Ms. Mary Ching herself! These photos were snapped in Tianzifang, Shanghai, and featured on the “fashionasithappens.com” blog. Ms. Mary Ching got a real kick out of the blog’s depiction of her as a “Chinese hippy chic.”

The Royal Weatherman

Several days ago BBC Scotland hosted a special guest in their studio, sparking a worldwide media buzz. Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, toured BBC’s headquarters in Glasgow; it was the Prince of Wales’ delivering of the daily weather forecast, however, that caused quite a stir. His playful and enthusiastic manner—at one point he exclaimed, “Who the hell wrote this script?”—delighted Ms. Mary Ching, a native Brit herself. The Prince may not have a future in meteorology, but he sure did make the weather enjoyable for all.

Angelina Jolie...or Not?

jolie re jolie 2 re chinese jolie re Lara Croft, Brangelina…these words are synonymous with famed actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie. Once hailed as the most beautiful woman in the world, Jolie is best known for her full, luscious lips, and her unmistakably beautiful gaze. If you haven’t already, take another glance at that last picture—yes, it is in fact Angelina’s Chinese look-alike. How do you think this “pretender” compares to the real Jolie? Following designer Frida Giannini’s Shanghai fashion show on Saturday, Gucci hosted an extravagant after-party at the Rock Bund Museum, and of course the MARY CHING crew was in attendance. Several big name stars were spotted at the event, including actress Hilary Swank and Chinese model Li Bing Bing; 70’s glam rock artist Brian Ferry also put on a great performance.

What was most impressive, however, was Ms. Mary Ching’s ingenious idea to turn the standing tables into benches. The MARY CHING crew had its own VIP section!

When Harper’s Bazaar China unveiled its latest edition nearly two weeks ago, it took many by surprise. The front cover featured Chinese photographer Chen Man’s portrayal of famed pop-star turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham; however, this magazine offered a side of Posh Spice like we’ve never seen before—adorned with feathered eye shadow and heavy accessories. Not to mention, Victoria seems to have taken a page out of Ms. Mary Ching’s book with that bright red hair!

Dolce Banana

Fake4

It’s no secret—China is home to a plethora of fake luxury goods, so many in fact that luxury brands have virtually no control in protecting their products from shoddy imitations. Recently, one of these brands—infamous Dolce and Gabbana—initiated legal action against a South African jewellery store called “Dolce and Banana.” The store name was meant as a joke, but Dolce and Gabbana clearly failed to see the humor in it.

Mary Ching was recently victimized by a knock-off luxury product, this time in the form of a bottle of fake French wine. If you’re going to produce fake wine, at least take the time to fix the gibberish on the label and make it somewhat believable.

The world of MARY CHING encapsulates the world of FORBIDDEN OPULENCE. The tension between Chinese opulence and British eccentricity. This tension is also reflected in the MARY CHING women whom is strong yet fragile, fashionable yet vulnerable. We loved this recent China Vogue editorial featuring a white corset as a reflection of the MARY CHING girl.
